Add an Inclinometer to your TRX-4®

How steep is the grade? What sidehill angle are you holding? The inclinometer gauges show you in real time.

Go past 90 degrees, and the gauges go red. Got a winch?

Traxxas Link lets you set warning thresholds-when your vehicle exceeds the tilt angle you set, an alarm sounds.
The inclinometer capability is available on all models with the TSM® receiver. Graphic side- and rear-view gauges show your vehicle’s angle as you drive, and display its level of incline in degrees. You can even set warning thresholds—when your model exceeds the angle you set, a warning light will flash in the gauge. Traxxas Link and the inclinometer gauges add an extra level of fun and real utility to your off-road experience. Try it for yourself!
Follow the instructions below to add Traxxas Link to your model. If you’re already a Traxxas Link user, skip to “Adding Inclinometers.” It’s easy.
INSTALL AND CONNECT TO TRAXXAS LINK
1) Purchase and install the 6511 Wireless Module for the TQi Transmitter
2) Download and install the Traxxas Link app from the App Store (for iOS devices) or Google Play (for Android devices). Make sure your device’s Bluetooth capability is switched on.
3) Launch the Traxxas Link app and touch the Garage icon.
4) Touch the Traxxas Link Wireless Module icon.
5) Power-on your transmitter and press the button on the Wireless Module as instructed on the screen. The blue LED will flash.
6) Touch blue bar on the app screen. In a moment, the Connected screen will show, and the transmitter icon will light green.
7) Power-on your vehicle. The vehicle icon will light green.
8) Follow any prompts to update the transmitter and/or receiver firmware.

Touch the Garage icon. Don’t worry about which model is pictured—once you connect your model, the home screen will update.

Here’s the Garage screen. Touch Traxxas Link Wireless Module to begin the process.

The instructions are right on the screen. Turn the transmitter on, then press the Link button on the Bluetooth module. Touch the blue bar to connect to the transmitter.

The transmitter is now connected to the app. The vehicle icon is still red, however, because the model isn’t switched on yet. Go ahead and power it up.

You’ll probably only see this screen for a second, Bluetooth connection is usually very quick.

Once powered on, you’ll see the vehicle icon turn green. Cool. Now we can go get those inclinometers.
ADDING INCLINOMETERS TO THE GAUGE CLUSTER
1) Touch the Dashboard icon on the home screen
2) Touch the dashboard; you will see wrench icons over the four main gauges, and plus-sign icons over the four auxiliary gauge positions. Touch an existing gauge or auxiliary gauge position where you would like to place an inclinometer.
3) Touch Remove Gauge if you are replacing an existing gauge.
4) Touch Inclinometer.
5) Choose the side-view or rear-view inclinometer. If you’re adding an inclinometer to an auxiliary position, there are also digital gauge options.
6) The Edit Gauge screen can be used to set a Warning Level. If the angle you choose is exceeded, an alarm will sound. Touch the Enable switch and use the keypad to input the angle, then hit accept. The default angles are 45 degrees.

Go back to the home screen. Note that the model image has updated. We linked to a TRX-4 Bronco, and there it is. Touch the Dashboard icon.

The default dashboard has analog gauges for RPM, MPH, temperature and voltage. Touch anywhere on the screen to edit the dashboard.

Wrench icons let you edit the gauges. Plus icons let you add new ones. Let’s replace the tach and speedo with inclinometers. Touch the wrench icon on the tach.

We need to remove the tach, so we’ll go ahead and touch “Remove Tachometer Gauge.”

Now the screen gauge is blank, and ready for whatever we want to put in that spot. Tap the plus sign.

Select Inclinometer from the gauge list.

Choose the rear view if you want to see roll (side-to-side tilt), or choose the side view to show pitch (front-to-back tilt). Click “Done” to go back.

And there’s the inclinometer. We want to see both roll and pitch, so we’ll repeat the steps to add the roll gauge.

There you have it. Your inclinometer is now set up and active!
